Ken Einhaus has dedicated his career to evaluating and promoting the mental and behavioral health of LGBTQ people as well as racial and ethnic minority youth. As an experienced training and technical assistance (TTA) center manager and program evaluator, he has served 5 years as Co-Director of the LGBTQ TA Center for the CDPH’s California Reducing Disparities Project and has accumulated over 24 years providing TTA in diversity, inclusion, and health equity, evaluating program services, and managing epidemiological data collection and analysis. He has over 13 years of experience evaluating TTA needs, developing TTA plans, and providing TTA to CBOs and other providers, educational institutions, and county departments of mental and behavioral health using a combination of TTA project staff and subject matter expert consultants.
He has facilitated more than two dozen professional workforce development trainings on LGBTQ cultural competency, and provided direct TA on working with and evaluating services for LGBTQ individuals and families in behavioral healthcare settings, County Departments of Mental and Behavioral Health, homeless shelters, residential treatment facilities for youth, faith-based treatment facilities, and the Veterans Administration’s premier national residential treatment facility for homeless veterans as it accepted its first transgender client.
He has developed and/or supervised production of numerous training curricula, tip sheets, and research briefs on emerging areas of best practice for serving LGBTQ and other historically marginalized and misunderstood communities. As Program Evaluator, he evaluated a vocational program serving adults with chronic and serious mental illness for over three years; has evaluated several alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention programs for youth and Latinx populations in Sonoma, San Mateo, and Orange Counties for over eight years; evaluated a substance use disorder prevention model being piloted in Butte County for NREPP designation for over two years; and served as Senior Evaluator for Phase II of the California Community Colleges Student Mental Health Program for seven years.
